Rev. Fr. Kyle Schnippel, Priest In Resident
I am Fr. Kyle Schnippel, and serve as Director of Vocations for the Archdiocese of Cincinnati. After three years living downtown, I have felt an increasing need to be back in touch with parishioners, hence I have asked to move in with Fr. Sunberg here at Our Lady of Lourdes, which he has graciously agreed.
Originally from Botkins, Ohio, a small town roughly 100 miles north of Cincinnati, I had always hoped to return ‘Up North’ to serve as a priest. It has not yet come to pass, however! After my ordination in 2004, I was assigned to Our Lady of Visitation at South and Mack Roads, while also full time faculty at Elder High School. Serving two years at the Pride of Price Hill, I can say I still Bleed Purple, and am glad to be back in the area to enjoy the football games and the great spirit that surrounds the high school.
After two years of teaching, including a number of young men from Lourdes, I was reassigned to the Vocation Office for the Archdiocese of Cincinnati. Needing to get a grasp on the scope of the Office, I moved to the Cathedral, which was a convenient walk to the Office most days, and while I enjoyed living there, I wanted to be more in contact with the every day parishioners, whom the men I was recruiting to the priesthood would serve. After looking around for a bit, as I said above, Fr. Sunberg was gracious to open a door to me and allow me to be a part of life at Our Lady of Lourdes.
I look forward to getting to know you over the next few years, and reacquainting with those whom I met while at Elder. Sadly, I am not present as ‘Parochial Vicar’ or ‘Assistant Pastor,’ just as a priest in residence, helping out as I am able. My full time position remains as Director of Vocations. As such, there will be times when I am out and about, and I will not be able to be as present as either I or you would like. Regardless, I look forward to being grounded in an active and vibrant parish, such as Lourdes is.
Please feel free to stop me and introduce yourselves. There are many of you and only one of me, so it will take time to get everyone straight, please help me along!
God Bless, and pray for vocations!
