On my honor I will do my best
to do my duty to God and my country
and to obey the Scout Law;
to help other people at all times;
to keep myself physically strong,
mentally awake, and morally straight.

Scout Law

A Scout is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent.

Scout Achieves Eagle Status and Builds Outdoor Classroom

Congratulations to Matt Comarata, OLL Troop 471, upon earning Boy Scouts of America’s highest rank, the Eagle Scout Rank. Matt’s Eagle Scout project involved building an outdoor classroom for all students and teachers an area to extend their learnings beyond the classroom walls. This outdoor classroom is now part of the OLL School Memorial Garden.

The Eagle Scout Rank is Scouting’s highest rank. It requires the Scout to fulfill requirements in the areas of leadership, service and outdoor abilities in addition to earning at least 21 merit badges. It takes 5 to 6 years minimum to earn this rank.
Matt was introduced to scouting by his Grandfather and a coach’s “NOW” inspiration – No Opportunities Wasted. Matt’s older brother Steve is also an Eagle Scout and his brother Nick is involved in scouting as well. Matt is one of dozens of Eagle Scouts from Our Lady of Lourdes. There have been seven young men who have earned the Eagle Scout Rank since 2015. Scouting is family, fun, adventure, character building, leadership and so much more. It’s fun, hands-on learning and achievement that puts kids in the middle of the action and prepares them for today – and for life. Troop 471 is looking for interested young men, fifth grade to 18 years of age. Cub Scout experience is not necessary. To learn more, contact the Scoutmaster, Andrew Knapp at awknapp590@gmail.com.
