A Message from Ms. B:

No Snow! Who would have thought that we would be so excited to say those words…in April. Bring on the May flowers. Of course, the temperatures dip down again next week but like confusing junior high students, the weather will continue to baffle us. We only have about one month left to do everything possible to make up for “lost” time with field trips, special events, and get togethers. Be sure to check the calendar every week as there seems to be continual updates and new events. We are pleased to have an award winning author, David Fitzsimmons, visit our primary grades. He might even bring some “critters” to share.

Our 8th graders’ calendar are especially packed with many traditions, new events, and final events. One thing we did this year that was new to Lourdes was 8th Grade Grandparent and Special Friend Day. It was a special opportunity for 8th graders to have their family member all to themselves. Discussions, laughter, and wide smiles filled the cafeteria. We played pop culture trivia from “then and now”. We certainly have some cool and savvy grandparents who know a lot about the times; they were teaching their kiddos.

This is an exciting time for students but it can also be a stressful time too. There are lots of changes to our daily schedules and routines in order to do everything we would like for our students. Please encourage your students to finish strong and as the best student they can be.

A Message from Ms. B:

Will there ever be a weekend when I don’t mention snow? It feels like spring will never come. It’s like our break next week…it feels like we will never make it. (Or even the end of the school year.) I announced to the students that we only have three days until break and we have to do our best to focus on our academics and positive behavior choices. We are so close to the end of the year. We just sent home our last interims for the school year and Mrs. DiTullio, Mrs. King, and I are busy wrapping up the year and all the events we have planned. Our hope is that everyone continues to work hard and finish strong so we can enjoy all the fun things. Please continue to access your students’ Progress Book to check their grades. It’s never too late to ask for help regarding Progress Book and we are always willing to help set it up. We certainly hope that you and your family have a restful break and an opportunity to celebrate Easter with your loved ones. Some of my fondest family memories are from celebrating Easter starting with Mass and ending with a feast! I hope you have a similar experience.

A Message from Ms. B:

We are getting closer to the end of the year and the 8th graders social calendar is filling up by leaps and bounds. Field trips are being scheduled and additional activities are being investigated. Please take some time to review the calendar below. We certainly don’t want any family or child to miss an opportunity to participate in something. We also hope that you consider volunteering in the cafe, library, or as a chaperone. It’s a great opportunity to see your student in a different environment. I truly enjoy seeing our parents, guardians, and family members come into the office to sign in. (If my parents still lived in Cincinnati, I would ask them to volunteer to have the opportunity to see me in my “natural” environment!) Look at your schedules and plan to come on in. Safe Parish can be a bit tricky at first (I have to reread the directions every time or ask a friend for help) but it is only required four times a year.

Our parish, school, and church is for everyone and we should all try to do what we can to help grow. We Are Family. Sometimes family just drops in and helps out when needed or for a visit. Games are on Saturday and Mass is on Sunday. We would love to see you.
